Everywhere I go, I’m hearing more and more about chronic pain and illness.

And from people who are young.

There’s my own journey through chronic pain that started in my early twenties. There’s my childhood best friend calling me and whispering about her husband’s painful arthritis, and his fear that it’s only going to get worse. There’s my Mum’s colleague struggling with chronic ankle pain that’s stopping her from doing activities she loves. My sister telling me she’s being woken up night after night by the pain in her shoulder.

The list goes on.

They all know I’ve dealt with chronic pain, and they’re all asking for my advice.

What do I do”, they say. “You’ve been there. How do I get where you are now?

Let me tell you a little secret about myself. I hate the spotlight. I’m an introvert through and through. But stepping up and helping people in their time of need comes naturally to me.

And it’s time.

Time for me to step out of my comfort zone and become the reluctant leader my friends and family need me to be…
