Hey Tom! I’m so happy that you’re finding some relief with the sauna! Short answer — any sauna is better than no sauna, be it infrared or a traditional sauna. An infrared sauna produces results (sweating and increased heart rate) at a lower temperature than a traditional sauna, making it more tolerable for people with certain health conditions, such as high blood pressure. Some people prefer it over a traditional sauna for that reason. Personally, I feel as though the heat penetrates deeper into my muscles in the infrared sauna versus a traditional one. I also like the economic benefits of my infrared sauna — it’s really affordable to operate at about $0.25 per hour!
So happy to hear that low-dose methotrexate is doing the trick for you and that you’re able to enjoy regular CrossFit! I’ve just gotten back into weight training myself and it feels amazing to be able to do it again!
I’m going to be starting a Facebook group shortly for anyone interested in taking an active role in their own healing in the case of autoimmune diseases. If you would like to stay informed about that, or just chat some more, you can find me on Facebook as Carly Lyn :).
