I guess it depends on what you’re writing about. For me, writing is my business. When I write for clients it’s with the express purpose of selling their products/services, so there’s no escaping the business world and salesmanship, I’m smack dab in the middle of it. But I understand this isn’t the case for all.
And excellent point about despising what you write about, that’s not a fun situation. I’ve learned only to take on clients who I believe are selling ethical and valuable products/services. I don’t want to promote or sell anything I wouldn’t fully stand behind myself.
